About Us
The United Way Diamonds Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program was established in March 2000 as an initiative of the United Way. It is a comprehensive abstinence-based teen pregnancy prevention and sexuality education program that partners with other agencies, schools and churches. We provide age-appropriate, interactive and science-based curricula to middle and high school students. At Diamonds, we are committed to providing a cutting edge, scientifically based program.
Our Mission
Decrease premature sexual experimentation, STDs, unplanned pregnancies and repeat pregnancies in youth 12 to 19 years old.
Below is the list of the curricula we commonly use.
Making a Difference
This eight module middle school curriculum provides young adolescents with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and pregnancy by abstaining from sex.
Making Proud Choices
The goal of "Making Proud Choices" is to empower high school adolescents to change their behavior in ways that will reduce their risk of becoming infected with HIV and other STDS and their risk for pregnancy. Specifically, this curriculum emphasizes that students can reduce their risk by using a condom, if they choose to have sex.
Wise Guys
This program acknowledges young males as whole individuals with a variety of needs and desires. "Wise Guys" relates responsibility and teen pregnancy to self-esteem, values, healthy relationships, human sexuality, decision-making, and goal-setting.
